Stratford, London | 9 February 2016
Stratford is Europe’s largest urban regeneration zone. It’s also a key strategic locale for university expansion. While University College London moves ahead with campus development on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick is “the home of Loughborough University in London” (itself based across the canal in Here East). Meanwhile, across the rail tracks from the Park and the massive Westfield Shopping Centre is University Square. This campus is a novel collaboration between the University of East London and Birkbeck College aimed at expanding opportunities and training for local residents in an area of low participation in higher education.
